After working in a variety of different industries, Carmel Naismith established Cottage Catering. She had worked in hospitality, marketing, floristry and as a craft teacher. However in 2000 her passion for cooking led her to create a business supplying wholesome home cooked food to the corporate sector.

In 2007, Knox City Council Health Services Unit introduced the 'Going for Gold' Food Safety Program. Cottage Catering achieved the top award of 'Gold' in 2007 and 2008.
